THE BIBLE TEACHES
("The Sinner")
The Bible does teach that all men and women commit sin. In Romans 3:23, the record reads: "all have sinned." As one man said, "this includes me, when it says ALL." When we do something wrong it is not someone else's fault. We must accept the responsibility for our own actions. Each individual is accountable (Romans 14:12).
WHAT IS SIN? "Sin is the transgression of the law" (I John 3:4). In this light: God has always had a law. (There was a law in the Garden of Eden, when man was without sin). When individuals break the law of God in any age or place, they begin to serve sin.
WHAT CAN MEN AND WOMEN DO ABOUT SIN? It is possible for us to be saved from sin. Peter made this very clear in his sermon at Pentecost. He said, "Save yourselves" (Acts 2:40). It is true we cannot do this by way of our own plan or our own righteousness. However, human beings can save themselves by obedience to the gospel. Paul referred to this very teaching when he termed the gospel as: "the power of God unto salvation" (Romans 1:16).
THE GOSPEL CAN BE OBEYED! This a basic truth which must never be forgotten. The gospel of Christ can be obeyed from the heart of each man and woman. Romans 6:17-18 calls the gospel a "form of doctrine." When it is obeyed from the heart, man is freed from his sins, and begins to serve Christ.
HAVE YOU OBEYED THE GENUINE GOSPEL? Hear the word of God (Romans 10:17). Believe the gospel (Hebrews 11:6). Repent of sins (Acts 17:30). Confess your faith (Romans 10:9-10). Be baptized (Acts 2:38).
